Building Substitute Teacher
Position Summary
The Building Substitute Teacher will fill in for teachers who are absent from school. If all teachers are
present, the building substitute will work as a teaching assistant or provide additional coverage in other areas of the school during the school day.
This is a full-time, immediate opening for the remainder of the 2024-25 school year.
The Building Substitute Teacher will:
- Support the mission of the school
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students
- In collaboration with grade-level colleagues, plan and implement the academic program
- Implement the Open Circle curriculum and attend to the social and emotional development of individual students and the class as a whole.
- Differentiate teaching methods, assignments, and/or assessments to meet students’ needs.
- Maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to student learning and safety.
- Manage classroom administrative tasks, including taking daily attendance
- Perform dismissal, lunch, and recess duties as assigned.
- Assume responsibility for other projects as assigned by the Head of School, Associate Head of School for Teaching & Learning, or Division Directors
Position Requirements:
- Minimum 1- 5 years experience working with students in elementary school grades
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse learning environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Creative problem-solving skills, a positive attitude that allows one to cooperate and collaborate effectively with others
